The history of the Denis Group in Japan goes back to the establishment of a trading company in 1947. Handling a wide variety of products and services, the Denis Group established Nichifutsu Boeki K.K. (which means “Japan-France Trading Company”) in 1954. For more than 60 years, it has served as a bridge between French companies and the Japanese market. Along with importing consumer products such as skis, furniture, jewelry, and wine, Nichifutsu Boeki K.K. has established and expanded its business operations in key sectors such as the automobile (Citroën), insurance (AGF, now Allianz), and textile industries. From the early 1990’s, Nichifutsu Boeki K.K. began specializing in the import and sale of high-quality, innovative food & beverage brands, attaining its current position by developing the Japanese market.

In 1952, the Denis Group acquired Sceti Co., Ltd. (founded in 1925), a company widely involved in the introduction of foreign technologies to Japan. Acting as the Japanese base for various French institutions, Sceti Co., Ltd. played a major role in projects crucial to the development of the Japanese market. Sceti Co., Ltd. introduced the Caravelle plane from Sud-Aviation (Airbus) to Japan, represented the interests of the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA: Commissariat Français à l’Energie Atomique) in Japan, and distributed mountain gondolas from Pomagalski. In the years following, Sceti Co., Ltd. expanded its business by continuing to introduce innovative technologies into the influential market in Japan. Now, the group strives for further expansion through specialization in health science businesses.

In 2011, after 20 years of continuous growth and with a wealth of history and experience, Nichifutsu Boeki K.K., SCETI K.K., and their subsidiaries were integrated under Denis Japan S.A. (headquartered in Switzerland). Today, Denis Japan specializes in two main business areas: “Food & Beverage”, and “Health Science”. It is expanding its business nationwide, with offices operating in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka, and a manufacturing facility in Sakura (Chiba prefecture).

Denis Japan works to provide its foreign partners with an entry point into the Japanese market, and to provide Japanese consumers with foreign products. It utilizes over 60 years of experience in Japan to the fullest in order to develop innovative technologies and products. It will continue to introduce these products and services to the people of Japan, preserving the pioneer spirit of the Denis Group.
